Welcome

On Tuesday, September 22, 2009 the Scots Guards Pipes and Drums were in New York to celebrate the enduring alliance between this famous British Regiment, a member of Her Majesty The Queen's Household Division, and its counterparts in the US Forces.

A special evening aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York Harbor acknowledged the shared cost of blood shed together on operations today and yesterday. In the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent as well as other distinguished US and UK diplomatic, military and business leaders, a gala dinner was held on board the newly restored Intrepid in support of the Colonel's Fund, a charitable fund designed to care for Scots Guardsmen wounded in action and the families of those killed on the front line.

The Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, 10th Secretary General of NATO, was in attendance and was presented with The American-Scottish Foundation's Wallace Award® in recognition of his long and distinguished service to the enhancement of the special relationship that exists between America and its NATO allies.

The evening commenced with a cocktail reception, which included a silent auction. Before dinner, guests were treated to the spectacle of the Scots Guards Pipes and Drums beating retreat on the Flight Deck.

After the evening's presentations, guests enjoyed a performance by the renowned Scottish singer Isla St. Clair and the Pipes and Drums once more.

The evening was a spectacular success and we are immensely grateful to all who supported this unique event. Special thanks are due to our sponsors, advertisers and those who donated gifts and services for our live and silent auctions.

The following day, the Pipes and Drums traveled to Washington DC and played at the Lincoln Memorial, the Pentagon and, in a particularly moving ceremony, at the Walter Reed Hospital, for wounded US servicemen and their families.

If you would like to make a donation to the Scots Guards Colonel's Fund now or at any time in the future, you may do so c/o The American-Scottish Foundation, Inc. in New York or online through this web site.

Thank you, again, for your generous support of an important cause.

With very best wishes
